Aesthetics & Cosmetic Dentistry

Beautiful teeth through aesthetic dentistry

Teeth are not only eating and speech tools, they are important for the overall visual impression, which we leave in other people. Healthy and aesthetically beautiful teeth indicate our environment health, well-being, strength and attractiveness.

The aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry affects tooth color, tooth shape, tooth position and appearance of the gums. It allows an abundance of embellishments, such as porcelain Veneers, ceramic Inlays or Onlays, high-quality composite fillings and bleaching treatments.

But, we must consider, that a beautiful smile doesn't mean: straight and white teeth, No!. Teeth, gums and the whole mouth must harmonize with the face and the entire outer appearance. The art of bringing all these proportion perfectly together is called Smile Design.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers for beautiful and perfect looking teeth.

Disharmony in tooth shape or the position of teeth, as well as small gaps or severe discoloration, can be corrected by the technique of porcelain veneers. Veneers are very thin ceramic layers that will be permanently connected to Your teeth. In order to achieve a natural perfect looking smile, it  requires careful and comprehensive planning, and a close collaboration between the patient, the dentist and the dental laboratory.

We are happy to help you to achieve Your perfect smile.

PORCELAIN INLAYS & ONLAYS

If the decay and threrfore the cavity is bigger that a composite filling is no longer indicated, the tooth will be restored with a ceramic Inlay or ceramic Onlay. The individual tooth color and functional toothdesign by the dental technician make a ceramic Inlay virtually "invisible". The ceramic Inlay is the most beautiful and most "natural" alternative in dental fillings. Metalfree and biocompatible to the body.

Tooth colored composite fillings

The dental filling is a small reperation of the tooth. Cavity will be removed and replaced with ceramic-plastic materials. The filling will be aesthetically pleasing, but for shorter lifespan than ceramic Inlays.

TEETH WHITENING: PROPYHLAXE & BLEACHING

Are You unhappy with Your teeth color? Do you want whiter teeth?

We are happy to help You: Professional and gentle.

First a professional tooth cleaning removes unsightly stains from coffee, tea or cigarettes. The cleaned tooth surface now shows your natural tooth color. In many cases, the result already matches your requirements. Do you want further lightening of your tooth color, we offer two ways of gentle and professioal whitening (bleaching):

1. In-office whitening: Teeth whitening in just one treatment session in the office (duration about 1 hour), using ZOOM Whitening by Phillips.

2. Home Bleaching: With individually fabricated bleaching trays You can gently whiten Your teeth at home within 1-2 weeks, or refresh the whitening process.

KOFFERDAM

Kofferdam is the technique of using a rubberdam during the adhesive cementation of ceramic and composite works. in an absolute dry and bacteria free working field.
Established for this purpose, the rubber dam technique, a very efficient method, which is otherwise also an indispensable part of professional root canal treatments in endodontics.

CORRECTING MALOCCLUSION (Harmony & Invisalign®)

Are Your teeth crowded?
Crowding or disharmony of the teeth (mostly visible at incisors in the lower jaw) we can use an aligner system for correcting the misalignments. This system works with transparent and highly flexible plastic trays that correct in mini steps the teeth until they have reached the desired position.(www.harmonieschiene.de)

For more Information, please ask.

PROFESSIONAL TEETH CLEANING (PROPHYLAXIS)

A dental prophylaxis is a cleaning treatment performed to thoroughly clean the teeth and gums. Prophylaxis is an important dental treatment for stopping the progression of gingivitis and periodontal disease.
Prophylaxis is an effective procedure in keeping the oral cavity in proper health and halting the progression of gum disease.
The benefits include:
Plaque removal. Tartar (also referred to as calculus) and plaque buildup, both above and below the gum line, can result in serious periodontal problems. Unfortunately, even with a proper home brushing and flossing routine, it can be impossible to remove all debris, bacteria and deposits from gum pockets. The experienced eye of a dentist or hygienist using specialized dental equipment is necessary to catch potentially damaging buildup.
A healthier looking smile. Stained and yellowed teeth can dramatically decrease the aesthetics of a smile. Prophylaxis is an effective treatment in ridding the teeth of these unsightly stains.
Fresher breath. Bad breath (or halitosis) is generally indicative of advancing periodontal disease. A combination of rotting food particles (possibly below the gum line) and potential gangrene stemming from gum infection, results in bad breath. The routine removal of plaque, calculus and bacteria at our facility can noticeably improve halitosis and reduce infection.

PREVENTION IN PREGNANCY

Due to the hormonal situation in pregnancy expectant mums are unfortunately more predisposed for gingivitis and gum diseases. Therefore, a dental check up should be performed at the beginning of the  pregnancy. We support your dental health with a professional cleaning (prophylaxis). As good as your own oral hygiene is performed, that will be transferred to Your child.
Please ask us about details in the office.

RECALL

With the help of our memory system, we want our patients in the regularity of the prevention and control examination support more independently and in the long term to prevent diseases. Only through close check ups and  appointments can any damage be avoided and drilling can be entirely unnecessary.

We are happy to add you to our RECALL program.

PERIODONTOLOGY (GUM TREATMENT)

Periodontics is the study of the periodontal ligaments. This "tooth socket" is part of the bone and surrounding the tooth, the gums, the cementum and the periodontal ligament between the cementum and bone.
The most common disease of these structures is called “periodontitis”. This disease shows inflammation of the gum and the tooth socket, which may occur in the worst case to a loss of the tooth.
Periodontitis is triggered by the presence of bacteria on the tooth and root surfaces. The bacteria are in a so called biofilm (plaque). The metabolic products of the bacteria cause a local inflammation of the surrounding structures. If left untreated, these inflammatory reactions cause the loss of tooth-supporting tissues.
Precursor of an established periodontal disease is called gingivitis. This gum disease is curable by early treatment (with: Professional teeth cleaning and oral hygiene education). But if the gingivitis is not properly treated, a chronic periodontitis may develop.

WHAT IS A PERIODONTAL POCKET ?

A periodontal pocket is a localized gap between the tooth and the surrounding gum and bone. This term explains a pathological process. In a healthy state it is called a (gingiva) Sulcus.

WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF PERIODONTITIS?

An untreated periodontitis is the most common cause of tooth loss in adults. The entire attachment of the tooth is attacked and damaged by aggressive bacteria. With the result that the gum loses its strength, the tooth root is irreparably damaged and the bone is broken down. This causes increased mobility of the teeth - up to the loss of teeth, often accompanied by strong signs of inflammation and bleeding of the gums.

What many people do not know: The periodontal disease is not limited to the oral cavity disease but affects the entire organism. Bacteria in the mouth enter through the inflamed and loosened gums into the bloodstream and from there to the whole body. A periodontal disease is also a high risk factor for coronary heart disease. It also increases the risk of stroke, lung disease and can also increases the risk of premature birth.

How do I feel a PERIODONTITIS?

Periodontitis - is a particularly "insidious" disease. Usually it runs free of symptoms for those who are affected .
Typical warning signs of periodontal disease include:
1. Redness, swelling and increased sensitivity of the gums
2. Bleeding gums , especially when brushing
3. Receding end gums and exposed root surfaces
4. Halitosis
5. Very cold and heat sensitive teeth

Do You feel the first signs of periodontitis , arrange an appointment

IS a PERIODONTITIS CONTAGIOUS?

Many people do not know, that inflamed patient presents a higher risk of transmitting the harmful bacteria on their partner. After all, the periodontal disease is an infectious disease. If an inflammation is noted, the partner should be investigated, too. An infection is also possible from mother to child.

WHAT kind of FACTORS SUPPORT THE PERIODONTITIS?

The risk of a periodontitis is affected by many different factors and lifestyle habits:
1. Smoking - cancer danger to periodontitis is higher than in non-smokers by four to six times.
2. Stress, obesity, poor diet, hormonal disorders, diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

3. Hard to be cleaned niches in the oral cavity, caused by old fillings or crown edges.
4. Dysfunction of the masticatory system, such as gnashing and pressing (mostly during the night).
5. Pregnancy - hormonal changes affect the connective tissue, the gum can swell and bacteria can easily penetrate into the depths.

THE TREATMENT CONCEPT is very INDIVIDUAL

The paradontitis treatment focuses on a practical treatment concept. It is very important to keep up the oral health of our patients by regular follow-ups. Specially trained prophylaxis assistants work with dentists hand in hand. An intensive exchange of all involved persons ensure optimal treatment success.
The treatment is divided into the following steps:
1. Detailed diagnostics, education and counseling.
2. Professional Cleaning: Cleaning of the teeth and surrounding structures above and below the gum as well as detailed information and advice for dental care, oral health and nutrition. An innovative purification process comes by glycine powder (Perioflow) apply. In this we proceed a powder waterjet mixture in the gingival pocket introduced. Teeth and implant surfaces are perfectly cleaned and freed of bacteria biofilm.
3. Basic therapy: cleaning of gingival pockets, if desired also with local anesthesia, with hand instruments and ultrasonic devices and a powder-water-air mixture. The root surfaces are cleaned and smoothed below the gum line to the bottom of the bag.
4. In severe and aggressive cases sometimes a supportive treatment with antibiotic is useful and helpful.
5. In particularly deep gingival pockets surgical treatment is also necessary. With local anesthesia, the root surface is exposed and cleaned intensively. We apply depending on the severity of the disease also a regenerative method. In addition, an enamel matrix protein and a bone replacement material can be applied in large bone defects.
6. An essential point of the therapy is the later follow-up (UPT = Supportive periodontal therapy) with prophylaxis. It is essential that after each successful treatment, the treatment outcome will be sustained. We offer a recall system, which ensures a long-term oral health through regular prophylaxis sessions. So any possible recurrence can be detected early.

Please ask us, if You have further questions.

Endodontics And Root Canals

In the past, teeth with diseased nerves have been removed from the mouth. However, through a root canal, most of the diseased tooth can be salvaged. In most cases, the root canal procedure is a simple treatment that involves little to no patient discomfort.
Within the walls of each tooth, a strand of dental pulp – the substance that supplies the tooth with nerves, nutrients, connective tissue and blood vessels – laces downward into the root. If the dental pulp becomes diseased, the pulp dies, cutting off the nutrients and nerve signals which the tooth needs to be healthy. If the diseased pulp is left in the tooth, the tooth will become infected, forcing it to need extraction.
Root canals allow the dentist to remove the pulp, clean the canal and seal the tooth, effectively protecting and saving the tooth. After an opening is created through the crown of the tooth into the dental pulp chamber, the pulp is removed. The canal is cleaned out, and the pulp chamber is permanently filled. The dentist will proceed by putting in a temporary filling.  Afterwards, the temporary filling will be replaced with a permanent filling or a crown, depending on the location of the tooth within the mouth.

KOFFERDAM: Kofferdam is the technique of using a rubberdam during the root canal treatment, in an absolute dry and bacteria free working field.

Call us to learn more about the root canal treatment and whether this option is right for you.

Secure amalgam remediation

We offer a healthy and stress-free technique of amalgam restoration with safe protection:
The security starts with the drilling and in the isolation of the teeth.

1. Kofferdam
For a better protection from the fumes by inhalation we use a Kofferdam (rubber dam). This isolates the tooth from the rest of the oral cavity and the upper airways. This is also a protection against vapors and dust from drilling. Amalgam residues do not enter into the oral system and cannot be swallowed.

2. Special suction
A special suction reduces the exposure to mercury vapors by over 90%. Amalgam residues and vapors are extracted directly on the tooth.

3. External oxygen administration
In addition, we offer you the opportunity to provide you with supplemental oxygen during drilling using an oxygen device.

4. Rinse with sodium thiosulfate
Sodium thiosulfate  binds and neutralizes the remaining still in the tooth tissue amalgam.

5. Special drill equipment

Only amalgam drillers with a special layer will be used to ensure a minimum heating of the filling, and provides  a low release of the mercury vapors.

6. Low speed
At low speed drilling the formation of mercury vapor is reduced.

7. Levering
It will be drilled only as little as possible and as much as necessary. The removal of the amalgam filling by levering takes precedence. The levering has the advantage that toxic mercury vapors can no longer arise. This is the safest method for the patient and the slightest risk of inhaling mercury vapors.

Indispensable - the amalgam dredge
The half-life of natural mercury excretion without amalgam dredge averages up to 20 years. Removing the amalgam from the teeth just means that no more amalgam comes from the teeth in the bloodstream and organs - the toxic load that has arisen up to the date of the amalgam restoration in the body, however, remains.

With a targeted amalgam dredge mercury pollution can be eliminated almost completely within half a year.
During this period we work together with the office of Philipp Nedelmann, a specialized therapist who has the necessary technical knowledge to carry out a targeted diversion.

Aesthetic PROSTHESIS

No reason to hide Your Smile

Dental Crowns & Bridges

Most dentistry looks like dentistry. Our goal is to provide dentistry that is undetectable. We replace existing crowns and fillings with restorations that look and feel like your natural teeth.
Where damage to a person’s teeth is extreme, and apparently beyond repair, we can use porcelain crowns to make the smile appear “as new”. This is an extremely reliable technique for repairing the most severe of dental problems, even permanently replacing missing teeth to offer a complete smile and a functional bite. We are renowned for the quality of our work and the fantastic changes we make for people using this technology. These treatments are used for a long-lasting correction of major dental problems.

KEY BENEFITS OF DENTAL CROWNS

Replaces missing teeth
Offers support to misshapen teeth or badly broken teeth
Looks completely natural
Fixes “smile” and functional chewing problems

DENTAL BRIDGE OPTIONS

A bridge — a device used to replace missing teeth — attaches artificial teeth to adjacent natural teeth, called abutment teeth. Bridges are either permanently attached (fixed bridges), or they can be removable.
Fixed bridges are applied by either placing crowns on the abutment teeth or by bonding the artificial teeth directly to the abutment teeth. Removable bridges are attached to the teeth with metal clasps or by precision attachments.
If you’re missing one or more teeth, you may be aware of their importance to your appearance and dental health. Your teeth work together for many daily functions from eating to speaking. With missing teeth, it’s difficult to do these things. Missing teeth can and should be replaced. Fixed bridges are a great way to restore your dental health and appearance.

Implants

What is an  implant?
An implant looks like a little screw and will be inserted in the bone and acts as a tooth root. After healing in the bone, a dental crown will be attached on the implant. Dental implants are a huge advance in the care after tooth loss. These can be used as a pillar for crowns, bridges and removable prostheses.
Important for an implant treatment is the careful planning and the follow-up. Implants allow us to replace teeth in a safe and gentle way.

INDICATIONS:
Single tooth loss: priority is to preserve existing teeth. The earlier the treatment, the greater the chances. But if a tooth is lost, it may be replaced by a bridge, denture or implant crown. Thanks to the implants healthy teeth need not be drilled for a bridge. Missing teeth can be replaced in this way very gentle with implants and implant crowns. Not every missing tooth has to be replaced by an implant. Like on natural teeth, bridges can be attached on implants as well. Therefore we use a minimal invasive approach, too.

Prosthesis anchoring: Often prostheses  give patients a feeling of insecurity. Moreover, uncomfortable pressure points can occur. In these cases are implants for prosthesis anchoring a meaningful and gentle process. Most prostheses can be sufficiently stabilized even with 1-2 implants. With more placed implants it is possible to re-establish fixed dentures.
Can I have dental implants?
Recent long-term studies show that implants need sufficient bone and soft tissue to remain stable in the long term. Therefore, a meaningful checkup, planning and therapy can only be provided on clinical judgment.
Please ask us for a consultation.

Pediatric dentistry

Healthy teeth from the very beginning with gentle dental care.
The teeth of our smallest patients are very important to us. In order to build a trustful image of the office  environment and to make the dental visit a positive experience, your children should accompany their parents as early as possible to the six-monthly routine consultations. Recommended by us for the first visit at least with 12 months.   In our Toothbrush school is the small patient illustrated for children, how to clean their teeth. Thus, an early caries prevented and careful dental hygiene are trained from an early age.

We look forward to your visit.

FUNCTIONal THERAPY

Grinding, pressing, clenching ... JOINT PROBLEMS.

Help needed by headache, migraine and tinnitus.

An incorrect bite causes pain!

TMJ (Joint) problems and muscle pain have many causes. The bone, muscles and ligaments and also the positions of the teeth play an important role. Grinding, pressing and clenching often have a negative effect on the entire muscular-skeletal system.

The dentist can help!

With an accurate functional diagnosis the cause can be determined. Triggering factors on the masticatory system can be corrected by a splint therapy with any change in the bite. Complex cases will be treated in interdisciplinary cooperation with orthodontists, physiotherapists and osteopaths.

SPORT MOUTHGUARDS

For many sports, a mouthguard is recommended (such as for basketball, hockey, skateboarding, martial arts ...). Also in shops available, but not individually fabricated, these protect but often inadequate. A custom-fabricated mouthguard by the dentist significant adds value: better individual fit, more comfort, impaired breathing and speaking.

Ask us for advice.

ANXIETY PATIENTS

Are You afraid of dental appointments?

Experts estimate that about 15 percent of the population in Germany, around 12 million people, fear dental appointments. Palpitations, nausea and sweating make alone the thought of a dental practice as visits use to be true nightmares for anxious patients.

Negative and traumatic experiences already during childhood is often a reason.. Fear of pain plays an important role along with the feeling of helplessness. For these reasons, the patients avoid dental appointments. Small problems develop as quickly major damage in the oral cavity, which further increases the fear of the dentist - a vicious circle.

OUR ANXIETY PATIENTS will BE GENTLE PREPARED

Overcome your fear and we can assist You: First we get to know each other during a patient-doctor consultation. During the first visit, which is a pure consultation appointment, we look only at the teeth, maybe create a radiograph, answer questions and discuss Your treatment options. If You wish, we also offer dental treatments under general anesthesia, too. An experienced anesthesiologist team monitors the whole appointment and never leaves your side. In general, you can already shortly after treatment go back home. However, we recommend our patients to be brought home by a companion or family member.

THE FEAR OF DENTIST SUCCESSFULLY OVERCOME

In extreme dental fear it is possible to complete full dentition renovations in just one or two meetings - thanks to precise planning and precise preparation. Follow-up appointments will then be experience in a relaxed atmosphere.

We are looking forward to Your visit, don't be shy. Everything will be alright.

DIGITAL X-RAY

We use digital radiography to create X-rays in our office . For diagnosis of caries and root canal treatment we create single small tooth pictures. The panoramic radiograph (OPT or OPG) , also panoramic radiograph (PSA) creates an overview image to identify the full dentition, the assessment of bone structure , wisdom tooth, TMJ and sinuses . Here, the radiation exposure is highly reduced compared to the use of conventional methods with films. Digital radiographs belong to a good diagnosis and therapy planning.
